Suano Plus

Suano Plus

Water soluble powder

Product description

Composition:

Each 100 gm contains:

  • Spiramycin (as Adipate) 50 MIU
  • Trimethoprim 5 gm

Properties:

  • Spiramycin is bacteriostatic antibiotic at usual doses and bactericidal at high doses. It acts by inhibiting the biosynthesis of bacterial proteins, by binding to the ribosomal 50 S subunit. Its broad spectrum includes Gram positive bacteria (Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Clostridium, Diplococcus pneumonia and Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae), Gram negative bacteria (Neisseria, Haemophylus), Mycoplasma spp., Protozoa (Toxoplasma spp., Treponema hyodisenteriae).
  • Trimethoprim is an antiinfective that belongs to the family of diaminopyrimidines.
Trimethoprim has a bactericidal effect by blocking the biosynthesis of folic acid inhibition of dihydrofolate reductase microbial. The spectrum of activity of this combination extends to both Gram positive organisms (Streptococcus,Staphylococcus,.), The Gram negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Proteus, Enterobacter, Bordetella …) and mycoplasma (Mycoplasma spp).

Indications:

Pigs:

  • Enzootic pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumonia.
  • Atrophic rhinitis caused by Pasteurella multocida, bordetella bronchiseptica.
  • Pleuropneumonia caused by actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.
  • Toxoplasmosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii.

Target Species:

Pigs.

Dosage & Route of administration:

Orally via drinking water.
For whole product

Pigs:

  • 2 g of powder /10 kg of body weight per day for 3 to 5 days.

Warnings & Precautions

  • Pigs with acute infections and with an intensely reduced intake of food or water should first be treated with an appropriate drug by injection.
  • The coexistence of a secondary infection caused by organisms such as Pasteurella multocida and actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae may complicate the clinical picture and require medication.
  • The use of the medication must be based on bacteriological identification and tests of bacterial sensitivity causing the infectious process. If this is not possible, the medicinal product should be used taking into account official recommendations (national or regional) on the use of antimicrobials.
  • The use of the drug under conditions other than those recommended in the Technical Data Sheet may increase the prevalence of spiramycin-resistant bacteria and decrease the efficacy of treatment with other macrolides as a consequence of the appearance of cross resistances.

Contra – Indications

  • Do not use in case of known allergy to trimethoprim, spiramycin or any other substance macrolide.
  • Do not administer to animals with hepatic insufficiency or biliary obstruction.
  • Do not administer simultaneously with antimicrobials with a similar mode of action, which Act by binding to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, such as florfenicol, Lincosamides and other macrolides.

Side Effects

  • Intestinal dysbacteriosis in some cases.
