Product description

Composition:

Each 150 gm contains:

Spectinomycin Sulphate tetrahydrate     100.86 gm

Equivalent to Spectinomycin base               66.70 gm

Lincomycin Hydrochloride                              37.76 gm

Equivalent to Lincomycin base                      33.30 gm

Properties:

  • Spectolinc Soluble Powder contains the antibiotics lincomycin and spectinomycin.
  • Lincomycin is a lincosamide antibiotic and is produced by Streptomyces lincolnensis. It is bacteriostatic and is primarily active against Gram-positive bacteria (both aerobic and anaerobic), Gram-negative anaerobic bacteria and mycoplasmas.
  • The mode of action is inhibition of protein synthesis at the ribosomal 50S sub-unit level
  • Spectinomycin is aminocyclitol antibiotic
  • Spectinomycin is primarily a bacteriostatic antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit.
  • Spectinomycin has activity against a wide variety of gram positive and gram-negative bacteria including E. Coli, Klebsiella Protus, Enterobacter, Salmonella, Streptococci, Staphylococcus and Mycoplasma.

Indications:

  • Broiler chickens: Antibacterial or antimycoplasmal therapy against sensitive organisms.
  • For treatment of Chronic Respiratory Disease (CRD) caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Escherichia coli susceptible to Lincomycin – Spectinomycin.
  • Pigs : For treatment of enteritis caused by Lawsonia intracellularis (ileitis).

Target species

Broiler chickens & Swine

Dosage & Administration

Broiler chickens:

  • 75 g of Spectolinc /100 litres drinking water for 3 – 7 days.

Pigs:

  • • 150 g of Spectolinc /1600 litres water for 7 days

Warnings & Precautions

Prepare a fresh solution daily and use as sole source of drinking water.  Any medicated water which is not consumed within 24 hours should be discarded

Contra Indications

  • Do not allow rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, horses, or ruminants access to feeds containing lincomycin. Ingestion by these species may result in severe gastrointestinal effects.
  • Not for use in laying birds or breeding pigs

Side Effects:

Pigs:

  • Loosening of faeces and/or mild swelling of the anus may occur; this is usually transient. On rare occasions, mild irritability and reddening of skin may occur. These conditions are usually self-correcting within five to eight days without discontinuing therapy

Withdrawal time:

Broiler chickens:

  • Do not administer to chickens producing eggs for human consumption.

Birds

  • may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 5 days from the last treatment.

Pigs:

  • Zero days

Storage condition:

Store at temperature not exceeding 30ºC in a dry place and used after opening for 50 days at temperature not exceeding 30ºC in a dry place and used immediately after reconstitution
