Chlortetracycline HCl 21.6 gm
Equivalent to Chlortetracycline base 20.0 gm
Properties
Chlortetracycline hydrochloride is a predominantly bacteriostatic antibiotic, interfering with bacterial protein synthesis of the rapidly growing and reproducing bacterial cell. Chlortetracycline has a broad spectrum of activity, including Gram-positive aerobes, Gram- negative anaerobes and Mycoplasmas.
Indications
Broiler Chickens:
The product is indicated in the treatment of colibacillosis secondary to infectious bursal disease, chronic respiratory disease caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Escherichia coli, and Salmonella enteridis, Salmonella typhimurium and Pasteurella multocida infections.
Pigs:
The product is indicated in the treatment of respiratory diseases associated with Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, Streptococcus suis and toxigenic strains of Pasteurella multocida. It is also used in the treatment of rhinitis due to Bordetella bronchiseptica and streptococcal meningitis due to Streptococcus suis type II.
Calves:
The product is indicated in the treatment of respiratory disease in calves caused by Pasteurella spp

Broiler Chickens, pigs and calves
Dosage & Administration
For whole product
Calves:
0.5–1 gm of Chlortetracycline 20 % /10 kg body-weight daily for seven days
Pigs:
0.5–1 gm of Chlortetracycline 20 % /10 kg body-weight daily for 5 days
Broiler Chickens:
1 -2.5 gm of Chlortetracycline 20 % /liter daily for 5 days
Warnings & Precautions
- This product is used only as water soluble powder and not used as a feed additive
- Medicated water should be prepared daily and any unused water should be discarded safely
Contra Indications
- Not used in lactating animals & Chickens producing eggs for human consumption
- Do not use in calves over 6 months of age and dairy cows.
- Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to tetracycline.
- Do not use in animals with severe liver and renal disorders.
- Oral administration to ruminants with a functional rumen is not recommended.
- Last 2–3 weeks of gestation in pregnant animals and up to 4 weeks of age in neonates
Side Effects
On rare occasions the following adverse reactions may occur: allergic reactions and photosensibility; gastrointestinal disorders; disorders of the liver and the kidneys.

Broiler Chickens:
- Meat 3 days
- Egg: Not used
Calves:
- Meat and offal: 10 days.
- Milk: Not used.
Pigs:
- Meat 6 days
Storage condition
Store at temperature not exceeding 30ºC in a dry place and used after opening for 50 days at temperature not exceeding 30ºC in a dry place and used immediately after reconstitution
