Composition
Each 1 tablet (Bolus) contains:
Oxytetracycline HCl 540 mg
Equivalent to Oxytetracycline base 500 mg
Properties
Oxytetracycline acts as bacteriostatic antibiotic and inhibits protein synthesis by reversibly binding to 30S ribosomal subunits of susceptible organisms, thereby preventing binding to those ribosomes of aminoacyl transfer-RNA
Indications
Calves:
- Tetramed 500 oral tablets (Bolus) is indicated for the treatment of gastro-intestinal infections in calves caused by both gram-positive and gram-negative pathogenic bacteria sensitive to Oxytetracycline as:
- Bacterial enteritis caused by Salmonella typhimurium and Escherichia coli (colibacillosis).
- Bacterial pneumonia (shipping fever complex, pasteurellosis) caused by Pasteurella multocida.
Target species
Pre ruminant Calves
Dosage instructions:
Orally.
• Pre ruminant Calves:
1-3 tablet per 50 kg bodyweight 1 – 2 times daily.
- Dosage should continue until the animal returns to normal and for 24 to 48 hours after symptoms have subsided.
- Treatment should not exceed four consecutive days.
Warnings & Precautions
Care with use in animals with renal or hepatic impairment
Contra Indications
- Oral administration to ruminants with a functional rumen.
- Do not used in calve to proceed veal.
- Not to be used in last 2 – 3 weeks of gestation in pregnant animals and up to 4weeks of age in neonates.
- Oxytetracycline is contraindicated in animals hypersensitive to it.
Side Effects
May cause photodermatitis.
Withdrawal time
Calves must not be slaughtered for human consumption during and after 14 days of treatment
Storage condition
Store at temperature not exceeding 30 °C in a dry place

Carton box containing strips each of 4 tablets (2, 3 or 4 strips per carton box).
