Product description

Composition:

Each 1 gram powder of Osmulin Premix contains

Tiamulin hydrogen fumarate 800 mg equal to Tiamulin base 647.6 mg.

Properties:

  • Taimulin is a semisynthetic diterpene-class antibiotic derived from pleuromulin.
  • Tiamulin is usually a bacteriostatic antibiotic, but can be bactericidal in very high concentrations against susceptible organisms. The drug acts by binding to the 50s ribosomal subunit, thereby inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
  • Tiamulin is active against gram-positive bacteria, mycoplasmas, and anaerobes, including Brachyspira hyodysenteriae.

Indication:

Pigs

  • Treatment of swine dysentery caused by Brachyspira hyodysenteriae
  • Treatment of colitis caused by Brachyspira pilosicoli
  • Treatment of ileitis caused by Lawsonia intracellularis
  • Treatment of enzootic pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae

Broiler Chickens

  • Treatment of chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and air sacculitis caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae Turkeys (grower poult).
  • Treatment of infectious sinusitis and air sacculitis caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum, Mycoplasma meleagridis and Mycoplasma synoviae

Target species:

  • Pigs, chickens (broilers) and Turkeys (grower poult).

Dosage and administration:

Route of administration: Orally to be mixed with feed

Dose of Whole Product (Osmulin Premix)

Pigs

  • Swine Dysentery, Porcine Colonic Spirochaetosis (colitis) and Enzootic Pneumonia: 125 – 250 gm of the product / ton of feed, for 7-10 days.
  • Porcine Proliferative Enteropathy (ileitis): 188 gm of the product / ton of feed, for 10-14 days.

Chickens (broilers):

  • 313 – 625 gm of the product / ton of feed, for 3- 5 days.

Turkeys (young poults):

  • 313 – 625 gm of the product / ton of feed, for of 3 – 5 days.

Warnings & Precautions:

  • Avoid direct contact with eyes, skin and mucous membranes.
  • When mixing the product or handling the medicated feed wear protective clothes.
  • Wash contaminated skin.
  • People with known hypersensitivity to tiamulin should administer the product with caution.

.Contraindications:

  • Don’t not receive products containing ionophores (monensin, narasin or salinomycin) during or for at least seven days before or after treatment with tiamulin.

Adverse reactions:

  • Rarely erythema or mild oedema of the skin may occur in pigs following the use of tiamulin.

Overdose:

Pigs:

  • Single oral doses of 100 mg/kg body weight in pigs caused hyperpnoea and abdominal discomfort. At 150 mg/kg no CNS effects were noted except for sedation. At 55 mg/kg given for 14 days a transient salivation and slight gastric irritation occurred. A minimum lethal dose has not been established in the pig.

Poultry:

  • The LD5 for chickens is 1290 mg/kg and turkeys 840 mg/kg bodyweight.
    The clinical signs of acute toxicity in chickens are – vocalization, colonic cramps and lateral recumbency.

Turkeys:

  • Signs of acute toxicity include colonic cramps, lateral or dorsal recumbency, salivation and ptosis.

Withdrawal time:

Meat and offal:

Pigs: 6 days.

Chickens: 1 day. Eggs: 0 day.

Turkeys: 4 days.

Storage conditions:

Store at temperature not exceeding 30 ⁰C in dry place. Used immediately after opening.

Pack:

Transparent plastic LDPE bag containing 20, 25, 30, 50, 75, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 500, 750, 1000 gm of the product in HDPE plastic jar with an outer label with HDPE cap and insert leaflet.
