Florfenicol 10 gm
Properties
- Florfenicol is a broad-spectrum synthetic antibiotic in the phenicol group that is active against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria .
- It acts by binding to the 50S ribosome subunit and inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
Indications
Floromed 10% oral solution indicated for therapeutic treatment of gastrointestinal and respiratory tract infections caused by florfenicol sensitive micro-organisms such as Actinobaccillus spp., Pasteurella spp., Salmonella spp. and Streptococcus spp. in swine and broiler chickens.

Dosage and administration
For whole product:
To be administered orally:
For pigs:
1 ml of Floromed 10% oral solution /1 liter drinking water for 5 days
For broiler chickens:
3 ml of Floromed 10% oral solution /1 liter drinking water for 3 days
Warnings & Precautions
- Use of the product should be based on susceptibility testing
- Treatment should not exceeding 5 days
Contra Indications
- Not to be used in boars intended for breeding purposes
- Not to be used in birds producing eggs for human consumption.
- Do not administer in cases of previous allergic reaction to florfenicol.
Side Effects
- A slight reduction of water consumption by the birds
- Dark brown faeces and constipation may be observed during treatment.
- Commonly observed adverse effects are diarrhoea and/or peri-anal and rectal erythema/ oedema which may affect approximately 40% of the animals. These effects are transient.
- In a few of the affected animals, prolapse of the rectum, that resolves without treatment, may be observed

Storage condition
Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C and used after opening for 49 days at temperature not exceeding 30°C.
