Product description

Composition

Each 100 ml contains:

  • Diclofenac sodium                 5.4 gm
  • Equi. To Diclofenac               5 gm

Properties

  • Diclofenac is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic activity.
  • Acts on the metabolism of arachidonic acid by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins, prostacycline and thromboxanes.

Indications

Reduction of pyrexia and inflammation in diseases of the respiratory system (e.g. bronchopneumonia), genitourinary system (e.g. metritis), mammary gland (e.g. mastitis) and musculoskeletal disorders (e.g. acute and chronic lameness, arthritis, desmitis, tendinitis, myositis)

Target species

Cattle, Pigs and Horses

Dosage & Administration

Cattle:

  • Administer intramuscularly 4.6 ml VOLTAMOON 5% /100 kg bw for 1-3 days
  • For acute lameness dose: 2.3 ml VOLTAMOON 5% /100 kg bw for 3 days.

Pigs:

  • Administer intramuscularly 0.9 ml VOLTAMOON 5% /20 kg bw for 3 days

Horses:

  • The intramuscular route is recommended. If necessary, it is possible intravenous administration 4.6 ml VOLTAMOON 5%/100 kg body weight for 3-5 days

Warnings & Precautions

  • Avoid use in any dehydrated, hypovolaemic or hypotensive animal, as there may be a potential risk of increased renal toxicity.
  • Not recommended during pregnancy.
  • It is recommended not to administer concurrently with glucocorticoids, other NSAIDs, or anticoagulants.
  • Concurrent administration of neurotoxic drugs should be avoided.

Contra Indications

  • Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
  • Do not use in animals suffering from gastrointestinal disorders, particularly in the presence of ulcerative lesions, as Diclofenac may aggravate symptoms and cause bleeding.
  • Do not use in animals with hepatic dysfunction, cardiac or renal disorders
  • It should not be used in newly born domestic animals.

Side Effects

  • Due to the mechanism of action of NSAIDs (inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis) may be irritation or gastrointestinal ulceration, renal failure and alterations liver, even after proper use.
  • In cattle, intramuscular injection may cause transient swelling and moderate pain at the point of injection. In pigs, these reactions were not observed.
  • In the horse, it may even appear anorexia and bleeding at the recommended dosage.
  • After intramuscular administration transient swelling may occur at the point of injection.
  • On rare occasions can cause allergic reactions.

Withdrawal time

Cattle:

  • Meat and offal: 15 days
  • Milk: 144 hours (6 days)

Pigs:

  • Meat and offal: 12 days

Storage condition

Store at temperature not exceeding 30◦C and used after opening for 30 days when stored at temperature not exceeding 30◦C

Carton box containing colorless glass vials type (II) filled with 10 ml, 20 ml, 30 ml, 50 ml ,100 ml, 200 ml, 250 ml, 300 ml and 500 ml with red chlorobutyl rubber stoppers capped with flip off aluminum cap with outer label + insert leaflet.
