Composition

Each 100 ml contains:
Amprolium (as HCl)            9.6 gm

Properties

• Amprolium competitively inhibits thiamine utilization by the parasite.
• Amprolium reportedly acts primarily upon the first generation schizont in the cells of the intestinal wall, preventing differentiation of the merozoites. It may also suppress the sexual stages and sporulation of the oocysts.
• Amprolium has good activity against Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina in poultry and can be used as a therapeutic agent for these organisms. It only has marginal activity or weak activity against E. maxima, E. mivati, E. necatrix, or E. brunetti. In cattle, amprolium has approval for the treatment and prevention of E. bovis & E. zuernii in cattle and calves.

Indications

For Poultry:

• Oraprol 9.6% as an aid in the treatment of caecal coccidiosis in growing chickens and laying birds caused by Eimeria tenella, E. acervulina. It only has marginal activity or weak activity against E. maxima, E. mivati, E.necatrix, or E.brunetti.

For calves:

• Oraprol 9.6% as an aid in the treatment of caecal coccidiosis caused by Eimeria bovis and E. zuernii in calves.

Dosage instructions

Poultry (growing chicken and laying birds) :

• Initial dose:
  • 2.5 ml Oraprol 9.6% / liter drinking for 5 – 7 days.
• Continue the treatment with:
  • 2.5 ml Oraprol 9.6 % / 4 liter drinking water for 1 – 2 weeks.

Calves:

• 6 ml Oraprol 9.6 % / 50 kg body weight for 5 days.

Warnings & Precautions

• For Animal treatment only.
• Exogenously administered thiamine in high doses may reverse or reduce the efficacy of amprolium.
• No other source of drinking water should be available to the birds during time of treatment
• Cages should be steam cleaned to prevent reinfection.

Contra Indications

Not used for patient hypersensitive to ingredient.

Withdrawal time

24 hours before slaughter.
