Composition:
Each 100 gm contains:
Oxytetracycline HCl 43.2 gm
Equivalent to Oxytetracycline base 40.0 gm
Properties:
- Oxytetracycline is a member of the tetracycline group of antibiotics and is produced by fermentation of Streptomyces rimosus. It possesses broad spectrum antimicrobial activity against a wide range of gram +ve and gram -ve bacteria, certain Mycoplasma spp, protozoa and rickettsiae.
- Oxytetracycline is bacteriostatic in action and acts by inhibiting protein synthesis in the bacterial cell. When given by mouth in solution oxytetracycline acts locally in the gut and is absorbed into the bloodstream and distributed to the tissues especially lung tissue.
Indications:
Chickens:
- Infectious synovitis caused by Mycoplasma synoviae.
- Chronic respiratory disease (CRD) and air sac infection caused by Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Escherichia coli.
- Fowl cholera caused by Pasteurella multocida
Turkeys:
- Hexamitiasis caused by hexamita meleagridis.
- Infectious synovitis caused by Mycoplasma synoviae.
Pigs:
- Bacterial enteritis caused by Escherichia coli and salmonella choleraesuis.
- Bacterial pneumonia caused by Pasteurella multocida.
- For breeding swine: leptospirosis (reducing the incidence of abortions and shedding of leptospira) caused by Leptospira Pomona
Calves, beef cattle and non lactating dairy cattle:
- Bacterial enteritis caused by Escherichia coli. Bacterial pneumonia (shipping fever complex) caused by Pasteurella multocida
Sheep:
- Bacterial enteritis caused by Escherichia coli.
- Bacterial pneumonia (shipping fever complex) caused by Pasteurella multocida
Target species
Calves, beef cattle and non lactating dairy cattle, sheep, pigs, chickens and turkeys.
Dosage & Administration
For whole product
Calves, beef cattle and non-lactating dairy cattle:
- 0.5 gm of product /10 kg body-weight daily for 14 days
Pigs:
- 0.5 gm of product /10 kg body-weight daily for 10 days
Sheep:
- 0.5 gm of product /10 kg body-weight daily for 10 days
Chickens:
- Infectious synovitis: 12.27 – 24.54 gm of product / 100 liter for 10 days
- Chronic respiratory disease (CRD) , air sac infection : 24.54 – 49.08 gm of product / 100 liter for 10 days
- Fowl cholera: 24.54-49.08 gm of product / 100 liter for 10 days
Turkeys:
- Hexamitiasis: 12.27 – 24.54 gm of product / 100 liter for 10 days
- Infectious synovitis: 24.54 gm of product / 100 liter for 10 days
Warnings & Precautions :
Medicated water should be prepared daily and any unused water should be discarded safely
Contra Indications :
Do not use in calves to be processed for veal with severe liver and renal disorders
Side Effects :
The use of tetracyclines during the period of tooth development including late pregnancy, may lead to tooth discoloration.
Withdrawal Time :
Cattle:
- Meat: 10 days
Sheep, chicken and turkeys:
- Meat: 7 days.
Pigs:
- Meat 7 day
Milk:
- Milk may not be taken for human consumption during treatment
Storage condition:
Store at temperature not exceeding 30ºC in a dry place and used after opening for 50 days at temperature not exceeding 30ºC in a dry place and used immediately after reconstitution
